London weather: Exact times for capital expected to be warmer than Barcelona as spring sunshine continues this week

London will experience 18C weather on Wednesday April 20, making the capital hotter than hugely popular tourist destinations in Spain. While Barcelona will see “heavy rain showers and a cool breeze” with highs of 16C and lows of 12C, London will see a high of 18C and plenty of sunshine.

BBC Weather predicts “sunny intervals and a moderate breeze”. This is good news for anyone who may have considered going to Spain recently but haven’t, and the good weather is expected to continue in the capital towards the end of the week.

Thursday should be a pleasant 17C with “sunny intervals and a moderate breeze”. There will also be “intervals of sunshine and a moderate breeze” with thermostats hitting 16C on Friday. Saturday won’t be as sunny as the previous two days but at 17°C there won’t be many complaints, despite the “light cloud and moderate breeze”. Sunday will also have “light clouds with a moderate breeze” and it will be 16C.

The next mini heatwave is expected to be in about a month when London can expect a weekend with highs of 23C. Weather forecasters at GisMeteo expect it to be from May 19 to May 21, where the weather is expected to average above 20°C over the three days. With lows of 21C on May 19 and highs of 23C on May 21.

The week through May 26 is also expected to be warmer. Temperatures reaching highs of 19°C can be felt throughout the working week. Although there is around a month to go, the Met Office says the weather forecast could change and warmer weather could arrive sooner than expected.
