Granada Convent reports several cases of coronavirus among nuns
The GRANADA Convent of San Luis el Real de La Zubia has reported several cases of coronavirus among its resident nuns, during the annual International Poetry Festival
A community of mercedary nuns from the Convent San Luis el Real de La Zubia in the metropolitan area of Granada, reported to the town hall, several cases of coronavirus among its numbers, which gave rise to the International Poetry Festival which was being detained in his gardens at El Laurel, being moved to another location, for safety reasons.
Rosa Gamero, cultural advisor of La Zubia, said in a press release: “Following the advice of the nuns, and by mutual agreement with them, we have decided to move the next two sessions of the festival – planned August 10 and 17. – in the Parque de la Encina, as a preventive measure, and to guarantee the rest and tranquility of the nuns ”.
Thus, the rest of this cultural event, which celebrates its 18th edition this summer, will now take place in the Templete of Parque de la Encina, Ms. Gamero explaining that during the opening session on Tuesday August 3, which was attended by the singer-songwriter Marwan, “it took place entirely in the open-air gardens, and at no time did the infected nuns have contact with the outside world.”
Purificacion Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia, indicated that the town hall has made all its cleaning facilities available to La Mercedaria in order to disinfect the facilities of the Convent of San Luis El Real, whose gardens have been ceded since 2004 by the sisters Mercedaria for the organization of this event, which every year has the collaboration of the Diputacion de Granada, the Junta de Andalucia and the University of Granada, among other local institutions, as reported diariosur.es.
