€ 28.3 million for the school transport support service in Andalusia
THE Board of Directors authorized an expenditure of 28.3 million euros for the rental of the school transport service-escort of the public educational centers of the community for the next two years (2021/22 and 2022/23).
These professionals, other than the drivers, are accredited by the award-winning companies to guarantee the safety of students during transport and to direct the operations of access and abandonment of the vehicle, as well as the collection and accompaniment of the students from and to inside the school grounds. Reports of the Junta of Andalusia that education, compulsory in the second cycle of Infant and Primary and Specialized Education, will be provided by 1,998 monitors.
In order to facilitate access to public contracts for a greater number of companies, the Andalusian Agency for Public Education has divided it into eight sections, one per province. The contract period will be 24 months, renewable, and with a total of 805,018 routes per year.
Among the duties of accompanying persons are taking charge of minors during transport and during vehicle access and abandonment operations. The person must be of legal age, accredited by the organization organizing the service and know how the vehicle’s safety mechanisms work.
According to forecasts of the Ministry of Education and Sports, next year some 95,000 students of Special Education, the second cycle of Infantile, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and Training will benefit from the free school transport service.
